Terrence Howard, Peter O’Toole, Tommy Lee Jones and Frank Langella have something in common. All of them were nominated for the Academy Awards (Oscars) but did not win.
That does not undermine their talent, or importance.
Something that could certainly undermine it would be if they were not invited for the mega event. Imagine a nominee who is not invited to walk the red carpet! Now that would be strange. Really strange.
Imagine the magnitude of the effect on the egos of the said 4 people, if they were just not even aware that they had been nominated till after the awards were doled out to the respective winners (they not winning of course).
Something similar happened to this blog.
It was nominated at the Cricket Websites Awards 2009, constituted by the World Cricket Watch in the category Best New Cricket Blog, alongside Against the Spin, Thoughts from the dustbin, Pongo Cricket and of course, the Test Match Sofa.
As I have already tried my best to explain in a not so subtle way, I was not even informed of my nomination, and all this while I was sucking up to other cricket blogs who were nominated and lobbying my friends to vote for them.
In retrospect, I blame myself, as all I had to do was check. Low expectations, eh! Naah, I was just being a little modest. A little? Yeah, whatever.
So I was saying, the results are out, and here they are…:

Yes, I came last, but that’s not the point. I could have come third, if I had lobbied. That is not the point either. The point is I was nominated. So I am happy.
Did you notice how I subtly changes the context of this post from ‘this blog’ to ‘I’. Maybe that is why no one tells me what the hell is going on.

I’m really sorry Paddle, I looked for your contact email but couldn’t find it. Maybe a contact page would help.
There’s always next yr.
Keep up the good work.
