Interblogactic IPL Battle – Deccan Chargers’ Perspective

Deccan Chargers v Delhi Daredevils at Cuttack – Mar 21, 2010

Deccan Chargers won by 10 runs

Deccan Chargers 171/6 (20/20 ov); Delhi Daredevils 161/9 (20/20 ov)

Having won 2 games out of 3 before we met the Delhi Daredevils at Cuttack, the confidence level was evident in the way we played. The talented Monish Mishra (ICL) got a game against the city of his ICL team.

Gilly chose to bat after winning the toss, and led the way with an explosive start. Mishra perished early, coincidently bowled by Mishra from Delhi Daredevils. Gilly kept the pressure on, and Gibbs joined in, albeit comparatively cautious.

Both Gibbs and Gilly failed to convert their starts but by the time Gibbs left, the score was already 72 in the 10th over. After that, a series of cameos by Symmo, Sharma and Suman lifted Deccan to 171/6 in 20 overs.

The Delhi reply was characteristic Delhi. Warner played a blaster of a cameo while Sehwag rendered this game too menial for his stature by getting out for 3. Warner got to his 50 in double quick time, and it was time for a few jitters. Or was it?

It was time for some inspired fielding as Warner was run out. Then, small contributions from AB and Dinesh Karthik kept Delhi in the hunt till it was too late to be in the hunt. A collapse followed, and deccan won by 10 runs.
