As cricket grew into me in the late nineties, a lot of cricketers made an impact on me. Not the least talented of them was Andrew Caddick. The whitish mane always shouted experience and his bowling, though never lethal, was accurate most of the times. It spelled a lot of problems against everyone, the highlight being the superb 7 for 42 against South Africa on Boxing Day, 1999.
The uncanny appearance and the accurate action both complemented his excellent work ethic. His talent was spotted early. Such was the obvious nature of his effectiveness that when he made his Somerset debut against the 1991 West Indians, and clairvoyants did not have to be sitting in the Taunton crowd to prophesize that he would take 200 Test wickets.
He announced that he will retire at the end of the season after 19 years at Somerset. During his career he played 62 Tests and 54 one-day internationals for England and remained a consistent performer at county level after his final international appearance in 2003.
This is to you Andrew Richard Caddick. May you have a successful after-cricket career. Keep Paddlesweeping.

I dont rate Caddick too highly. If you look at his record, how many matches has he played in the subcontinent? Three, if my memory serves me right. And he has bowled for the rest of his career on helpful, seamer friendly wickets in England, SA, Australia and WI to an extent.
you are right. He was not lethal anywhere, but i liked his work ethic
I just luv the six Sachin hit him out of the park during the 2003 WC in south africa, after Andy Cadd had told Lara is the best; Sachin no where near. And for my sheer pleasure ndtv showed it for their turning point and cricket controversies some half a million times
Tats one memory of Andy and more being some excellent bowling against the windies, top-class act. Good he dint forget to retire! will someone now remind Dominic Cork !!

I still can never forget the walloping he got from Tendulkar
Priceless considering whatever he said before the match quietly got into Tendulkar’s head.
Andy Caddick was a much under-rated cricketer and a great entertainer. A shame to see him go!
