This is the preview for INDIA for the 5 Game ODI Series
India’s fielding in the T20s was not fishy, as MSD described. It was shithouse, to say the least. The word ‘fishy’ might be used to describe things out of place, but not here. The Indian approach to fielding was skewed far more towards shoddy than fishy.
It was a relief that the Sri Lankans also reciprocated, and India won the game on account of being less crap. Yuvraj Singh helped as well. Happy Birthday.
In the post game press conference, MSD was at his jolly best. He said that there were a few unwarranted things going around, but all was well.
Just a day from that, he had to face the mic again. I get the feeling he faces the mic more than he faces the ball. His high strike rate has nothing to do with it.
This time, it was for the preview to the one day series, which kicks off tomorrow at Rajkot.
This time too, the Indian skipper appeared positive, looked to shrug off the Aussie Series, and hoped to crush the Sri Lankans.
But where is the bowling? Zaheer Khan is not the same in ODIs anymore, Ishant Sharma will have to bowl his height out to impress, and the others are still knocking on the doors.
It was stupid to make Dinda and Tyagi debut in T20s.
Talking about Sreesanth, he has somehow acquired Swine Flue, and managed not to spread it to the other teammates. Not even the opposition. Fishy indeed.
I don’t even want to get started on the fielding. Maybe the baseball dude BCCI has hired can help, though I won’t count on him. Enough has already been said. Robin Singh might be complaining but I don’t think even he did enough.
Fielding is all about confidence. If someone is not confident enough to attack the ball, not much can be said about his fielding skills.
Here is the team the wise men have selected for the first 2 of the 5 match ODI series:
Virender Sehwag, Sachin Tendulkar, Gautam Gambhir, Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina, MS Dhoni (capt/wk), Ravindra Jadeja, Harbhajan Singh, Praveen Kumar, Zaheer Khan, Ashish Nehra, Virat Kohli, Pragyan Ojha, Sudeep Tyagi, Sreesanth
Oh wait. I haven’t talked about the batting. I say it is unnecessary anyways. A team is only as good as its weakest link. Here is a quick SWOT of the Indian team:
