It’s the battle of the Titans

I have a feeling that we might be in for a huge disappointed come the end of this two match Test series. It’s been so over-hyped and the Proteas have been so piss poorly average it’s sickening.

I was meant to do a “why South Africa will win” piece but I am struggling to see that happening. India are a great side and though I am probably one of their biggest critics I know just how powerful they can be. And the best part is that they perform as a team. Unlike the Saffers.

If I am wrong about this then you can all cast your stones but I just do not see South Africa taking 20 wickets on those sub continental pitches. There are no games in Dehli so that rules win by injuring all the players out. Hashim Amla and the Oros Man showed some promise in the warm up game but that’s just a warm up game. South Africa couldn’t even dream of having spinners who can exploit Indian conditions. Instead, they’ll have to rely on their quicks.

The good news, though, like the Fat Captain who is no longer so fat said: India are the ones who have something lose. The number one ranking, of course. We all know rankings are a bunch of bollocks anyway but it still feels damn good saying you are first in the world.

It’s time for the reckoning.

xoxo

Even i find it tough for SA to win this series. But they will definitely give India a tough fight. They have the pacers in their team to trouble the indian batting. And remember, India is without Dravid, which takes away lot of experience. Also SA has got a good record in India. So its got to be a tough fought series. I feel the first test will be a draw. India will collapse in their first innings. But somehow manage to salvage a draw. But the second will be India’s. So its 1-0 to India.

Trideep, the 1-0 scoreline was my prediction too. The pacers have a better record in India than our spinners but I’m afraid Steyn and Parnell just aren’t talented enough to take or inspire taking 20 wickets. Agree that it’s going to be a good series, though.

yes, I agree with you that they will find it tough to take 20 Indian wickets. And that’s why the 1-0 score line. About spinners, I feel, Mishra & Ojha’s combination would be more effective against the Saffers. But we know that sadly enough Harbhajan has to play!

Ooh, I am definitely an Ojha fangirl but not so much Bhajji (did I put the H in the right place?) or Mishra. We’re in for a cracker of a contest, can’t wait!

You were meant to do a why SA will win piece? Here’s one:

SA will win because for once they are not the favourites and they won’t win. So no choking this time around.

Yes?

It’s quite likely that they’ll get themselves into a favourites position and end up joking though :)
