Kane Williamson gets a call up

Kane Williamson On a personal front, I love young teens who make it to the national side. The early exposure puts them under performance pressure without the excess need to perform. They always have the time to re-prove themselves lest they fail. If they fail.

Most of them grab the opportunity with both hands gleefully. I sincerely hope young Williamson does so too. We are talking about Kane Williamson, who has been selected to play for the Black Caps in the Second Test against Australia at Hamilton.

Born on August 8th, 1990, and having played for New Zealand U-19 and Academy sides before, this young batsman and off break bowler is surely one for the future. Averages about 48 in first class cricket with the bat and has 27 wickets from 19 games till now.

In the New Zealand circles, he is quite considered as an up and coming talent, someone here to stay. We haven’t seen him play yet, but the stats seem impressive. Looking forward to watching him in action against the Aussies. New Zealand desperately needed a good all-rounder. Could he be the answer? You let us know.

Here is an interview of Martin Crowe comparing himself to young Kane:

Here is New Zealand’s Squad for the second test:

Tim McIntosh, BJ Watling, Mathew Sinclair, Peter Ingram, Ross Taylor, Martin Guptill, Kane Williamson, Daniel Vettori (capt), Brendon McCullum (wk), Tim Southee, Brent Arnel, Jeetan Patel, Chris Martin, James Franklin.
