1. The generic question: where does your love for cricket come from?

My dad is a sports teacher so we grew up watching a lot of cricket. Then my sister fell in love with Graeme Smith, so I was kind of forced to watch every test.

2. Biggest challenge being a female blogger/sports presenter/female cricket lover?

Guys don’t think you know anything about cricket, that’s why I love Cass Naidoo for showing them that we do!

3. If there were manhole covers on the outfield, would the game be more interesting?

Yeah definitely, imagine trying to catch the ball and avoid the manholes.

4. How do you think we can promote the game to girls and get them interested (the hot cricketers don’t count)?

How I see it, you either love it or you don’t. So it is a bit hard to promote something to that some ladies won’t like. So they just need some time to watch it…

5. How would you explain the game of cricket to somebody who’s never watched it before?

Aaaa, wow, first I would ask if they were American or living under a rock. No jokes, I wouldn’t.

To explain it at its simplest is that it is a game between two teams and involves a bat and a ball.

Each team takes a turn to bowl and bat (hope I don’t have to explain that?). The team batting sends two players out to bat and try to score as many runs as possible without being caught out. The bowling team bowls and fields and tries to catch the batsman (or women) out.

6. If someone wrote a biography about you, what do you think the title should be?

“Eating Soup With A Spoon”

Random I know, but the book itself would be pretty random I think.

7. If we could teach monkeys to play cricket, would they play on a standard sized field?

Yes, it would give them the real experience.

8. What’s the reaction when you are watching cricket with guys who don’t know you, somebody appeals and you say: “no way, too high, pitched outside” and the replays show exactly that?

I think I would just get “the look”… like who told you that.

9. Who is going to win the World Cup in 2011?

I would like to say SA (please let it be them!), but we aren’t always at our best and lack a bit of consistency. Though after watching the Proteas play India, who are ranked no 1, so I am very hopefully that we can do very well in the CWC and perhaps win it? On the other hand, England are looking pretty good at the Ashes at the mo, so we will have to see how that pans out.

10. Have you ever fielded at short third man?
Perhaps in office cricket, but then all the slips were mixed up, so I would have to say no, I have never fielded at short third man.
