Ashwell Prince

Well, I am going to say it anyway. Double Hundred. The Oros Man is very much within reach of it. And he is not ginger so he won’t pull an Ian Bell and be dismissed on 199.

This is the danger with sub-continental pitches being as flat as Kate Moss’ arse. There is so much expected of you. If Jacques Kallis fails to score 200 here he might as well retire from Test cricket. South Africa are on top at the moment so they’re setting up their choking stage. Tie the noose, baby.

Ashwell Prince’s questionable form continues. What’s the solution? And how are the Saffer bowlers going to handle this pitch after the home side toiled all day? Don’t you just wish Hashim Amla was born in India? That would have this so much more interesting.

in India, South Africa

The South African cricket team, caretaker coach and all, have finally landed in Nagpur, where they would be playing the tour game as well as the first teat, albeit at different stadia.

They looked all upbeat, based on the press photos, with the skipper looking his healthy best. Going by the headcount done specially on our request by the flight attendant, here is the squad:

Greame Smith (capt), Hashim Amla, Johan Botha, Mark Boucher (wk), AB de Villiers, JP Duminy, Paul Harris, Jacques Kallis, Ryan McLaren, Morne Morkel, Wayne Parnell, Alviro Petersen, Ashwell Prince, Dale Steyn, Lonwabo Tsotsobe

And of course, the new coach Corrie van Zyl

Manager: Dr. Mohammed Moosajee

Here is their itinerary for the test series:

Feb 2-3 : Tour Game, vs Board President’s XI

Feb 6-10: First Test, Jamtha, Nagpur

Feb 14-18: Second Test, Eden Gardens, Kolkata

Next Up: How this team figures statistically on Indian pitches.
