What I learnt from the Group Stages
This has been a very short tournament. Still, half of it remains and we have learnt a lot from it about this format, the competitiveness of teams, and the likes. Here is what I have learnt so far: Minnows remain minnows, for once. Afghanistan were full of hope and enthusiasm, but then what would happen if India go on to play the Soccer WC? Sachin Tendulkar is on twitter. People don’t read blogs anymore, the [...]

Who let the mongoose out?
Matty Hayden seems to be one disturbed guy after today’s game. As disturbed as a guy is after he as committed to a girl he doesn’t love but is in it only for perennial pleasures. Everything was going great till the point the dreaded phone call came. Haydos was chilling with his mates down under when the cell rang. After muttering mere somethings about his publicist giving out his number to nothings, he picked it [...]

India vs South Africa 2nd ODI Preview
The two teams face off again. On another belter at Gwalior. I reckon I need to find the origins of the word belter as soon as I churn out this post. Both teams have already arrived, and the game begins in about 200 minutes from now. Gwalior has been a great hunting ground for the Indians. That is the end of cricketing clichés in this post. India have won 7 out of 9 games they [...]

ms dhoni puts his boxing gloves on
talk about unconventional ways of training for a game, Indian skipper MS Dhoni takes it to another level when it comes to glovemanship. He actually trains as a boxer whenever he gets time. He does the same with his physical trainer Ramji Srinivasan. Now that I have given Srinivasan enough of a free plug, so I should move. The problem being, at the moment there is nothing else to move on to. South Africa are [...]

and here we go again
Sri Lanka vs India at Dhaka Tri Nation Tournament (India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh) 5th January 2010 the average indian fan is asking a question for quite some time now. i will come back to the question in a while. Right now, let’s talk about my roommate. Let’s call him Amar, for fuck’s sake. Let me tell you that he is not a cricket fan. Which means he is not much, considering he lives in Mumbai. [...]

at Rajkot
Kumar Sangakkara can sometimes be a total nutjob. Before the tour began, he claimed that his team had the balls to beat India in India. He lost the test series 0-2, because he let the Indian batting get away. The biggest threat to any opposition against India is India’s Batting prowess. Sehwag. Sachin. Gambhir Yuvraj Kohli Raina MS Dhoni Jadeja If that is not a great ODI line-up, then we are in the 2030s . [...]

Amends to make, I have
This is the preview for INDIA for the 5 Game ODI Series India’s fielding in the T20s was not fishy, as MSD described. It was shithouse, to say the least. The word ‘fishy’ might be used to describe things out of place, but not here. The Indian approach to fielding was skewed far more towards shoddy than fishy. It was a relief that the Sri Lankans also reciprocated, and India won the game on account [...]

Kanpur Tried and Tested. Again.
The second test between India and Sri Lanka kicks off today. As I type this, Sehwag has already hit three consecutive fours off Muralidharan. He is batting on 115 off 110, and Gambhir is on 89 off 120 odd. What more can I say. Apart from this. Do not go there. This is what I referring to: India 325 (Ganguly 87, Laxman 50) and 64 for 2 beat South Africa 265 (Smith 69, Amla 51) [...]

Dhoni injured, Karthik flown in
Dinesh Karthik has been put on a plane to Kanpur from wherever he was earlier today. The reason – MS Dhoni seems to be injured. Just hold on till I Google what injury we are talking about here. Yeah, thanks for staying. Apparently, its pinkie injury. I say that for lack of knowledge about which finger it was. Here is what the HT guys had to say: Dhoni hurt his finger during the first Test [...]

India vs Australia 6th ODI Preview and LIVE!
HERO HONDA CUP 2009 India vs Australia 6th ODI Guwahati 9:00 AM IST Australia leads the 7 game ODI series by 3-2 Sometimes, the proverbial blogger gets proverbially bored of a proverbial ever-lasting series. Who invented such long series anyways. Teams take things for granted initially, then there is nothing left to take. There will be a lot of argument that India never did take things for granted and all the games were close [...]
